Stash Busting

Stash Org.

I’ve been trying to get the stash closet organized.  My ultimate goal is to inventory everything on ravelry, but I don’t know if I’ll manage that.  Turns out, there’s a lot more yarn in that closet than I remember.  A lot more WIP’s too.  I’ll have to deal with them at a later date, the yarn is making me hyperventilate as it is.  So far my favorite discovery (re-discovery, I suppose, since I’m pretty sure I was conscious when I put the stuff in the closet in the first place) is this:

 Chenille Cones

These are cones of a dk weight cotton chenille (well, the green one in front isn’t.  It’s wool from here.) that I bought off of Ebay.  I have no idea what I thought I would do with this much chenille, but it must have seemed like a good idea at some point.  Probably in the middle of the night.  I’m pretty sure this is an “insomnia-plus-Ebay” purchase.  This whole project is taking longer than I thought it would, but I think I’m almost finished.  My hope is that I can get it all sorted and organized in such a way that makes it easier to find what I’m looking for when I want it instead of just going out to buy more yarn because it’s easier than  rummaging through the mess.  I also hope that by listing everything on ravelry I’ll be able to remember what I already have.  We’ll see how that goes.

I do have some knitting to talk about.  I finished “Foliage“,  which I had started for the Earth segment of Project Spectrum.

 Foliage

It was a fairly quick and easy knit, but It turned out a little too small.  I’m not sure if I’ll try to re-knit it or just give it to someone with a smaller head.  I think if I just undid the last lace repeat and switched to bigger needles, plus added an extra repeat, that would fix it.  But it’s getting too warm to think about fiddling with a wool hat, so I’ll probably just let it sit as is until the Fall.  I’ll know by then if I want to mess with it, or just knit another one.  I’ve decided that hats will be my thing for Project Spectrum; one for each grouping.  I did a red one for the Fire segment and now this one for Earth.  I have a cute beaded hat pattern lined up for Air.  This is the yarn I picked out for that:

 Beaded Beanie

It’s a very pretty shimmery silver color, and beads are always fun.  I’m not sure when I’ll get a chance to start it, maybe next week.  As always, there are a couple things I’d like to finish up first.
